Where to Eat in Leavenworth: Our Top Picks for Bavarian Bites and Local Delights
Leavenworth, Washington, is known as a Bavarian-style village nestled in the foothills of the North Cascades. Offering a mix of traditional German cuisine with local Pacific Northwest flavors, this uniquely charming town boasts a vibrant food scene that can’t be missed.
Best Bratwurst
München Haus
Serving a selection of authentic Bavarian sausages on locally made buns — with over 20 mustard options — you’ll feel instantly transported to the streets of Bavaria. With a wide variety of sausages to choose from, we decided on the classic Big Bob Bratwurst (their most popular) and the Dirty Face Beer Wurst, made with Icicle Brewing Amber Ale. Both were bursting with flavor and cooked to juicy perfection. Topped with their famous Apple Cider Sauerkraut and sitting on a warm, freshly made bun, this was the perfect lunch for a traditional Bavarian experience. Of course, we couldn’t resist pairing our meal with a warm Bavarian pretzel served with a rich, velvety cheese sauce.
For the full experience, don’t forget to head to their beer garden out back to enjoy a local beer from Icicle Brewing. With its inviting atmosphere and hearty, flavorful meals, this spot should be at the top of everyone's lists when visiting this Bavarian town.
Be sure to arrive early, especially on sunny days—the line often stretches down the street!

Best Traditional Fare
Andreas Keller Restaurant
Hands down, the best schnitzel I’ve ever had was here at Andreas Keller. Their dedication to authentic German cuisine is unmatched. In addition to serving what might be the best schnitzel you’ll ever have, they also offer a variety of other traditional German dishes, including Schweinshaxe (a Bavaian-style pork dish), Bavarian Beef Goulash, and a perfectly seasoned half rotisserie chicken! To top it off, the owners go above and beyond in making you feel like you’ve truly left for Germany — “without the passport.” Some nights you can even enjoy your meal to the lively sounds of a traditional accordion player.
Stop at the Gingerbread Factory next door for a sweet treat to complete your meal. You won’t want to miss their famous gingerbread cookies, baked fresh daily.
As one of Leavenworth's most popular restaurants, Andreas Keller operates strictly on a waitlist —- no reservations. Be sure to add your name to the list early and stay flexible with your dining time.

Best for Dessert
The Gingerbread Factory
No trip to Germany — or, in this case, Leavenworth — is complete without sampling fresh, homemade gingerbread. The Gingerbread Factory, located right next door to Andreas Keller, is the perfect spot for a taste of this mouthwatering traditional dessert. You can opt for one of their classic Gingerbread cookies or try one of their soft iced creations, which layers a flavorful icing on top of a soft melt-in-your-mouth cookie.
We went for the Espresso Soft Iced Cookie, and oh my goodness, it was absolutely delicious! These cookies are rich in flavor, with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. The creamy espresso icing brought this cookie to the next level, making every bit a cozy, indulgent treat — perfect for a chilly day in Leavenworth.
Beyond the cookies, The Gingerbread Factory also offers a variety of other sweet treats, from intricately decorated gingerbread houses to classic coffeehouse beverages and even a selection of locally made ice cream. Whether you’re craving a quick bite or a leisurely afternoon treat, this charming bakery is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. You can take your goodies to go or, as we did, grab a table inside their inviting cafe to enjoy the warm atmosphere while savoring every delicious bite.

Best Local Eatery
Yodelin Broth Company
I try to eat here every time I’m in Leavenworth. This truly local eatery is known for its homemade fish bone broth soups, crafted with locally sourced ingredients from across the Pacific Northwest. Each soup boasts its own unique flavor, drawing inspiration from Japanese and South Asian cuisines. This rich, warming bowl makes for the perfect meal after a long day of exploring.
Beyond their signature soups, Yodelin offers a variety of enormous rice bowls packed with veggies, proteins, and flavorful sauces, as well as a small selection of burgers and sandwiches. Plus, they offer several vegan and gluten-free options too!
On warm days, grab a seat at their beer garden out back, where you can enjoy your meal overlooking the beautiful Wenatchee River.
